Kinsey's New Pet

Last weekend we decided to get Kinsey a pet hamster  - we named him Teddy! Knowing how much she loves animals, but is allergic to most house pets, we thought a hamster was a good option for her. She's probably allergic to it too, but she's not allowed to touch him because she'd squeeze and kill him, so it doesn't really matter. We got a fun cage with a wheel and other fun things for him to do and she loves to sit and watch him play. Unfortunately he sleeps most of the day, so most of the time she's over at the cage trying to wake him up! We also got him a ball to move around the house in and Kinsey really loves that. But she wants to pick up the ball and then throw it all the time, so we have to watch her carefully so she doesn't hurt him then too. Here's a video and some photos:

Kinsey's been doing great at school lately. Every day the teachers said she had a good day. She's been matching colors pretty well (like 6 out of 8 times correct), following directions better and participating in all activities (not fighting when it's something she doesn't want to do). It's been nice enough this week for the kids to play outside on the playground and I've really enjoyed watching her walk around and playing with the other kids. It makes me so happy that she can walk around with them when they move from one activity to another or move on to something else she wants to do all by herself. She's gotten so much steadier that the teachers don't have to hover quite a closely on the playground anymore.

We've been hanging around the house a lot lately and Kinsey has decided that I make a very good jungle gym when I'm sitting on the couch. While it's uncomfortable sometimes, it's nice when she decides to sit next to me for a few seconds! Last week I turned on the front camera on my ipad and she took some selfies of us on the couch together:

One of the times she came up to sit with me I showed her a funny video on the ipad of a pug and a pug puppy playing together. She thought that was really funny and we watched it several times. Here's a video of her watching it.

Kinsey has learned a new skill: blowing raspberries! She's figured out if she puts her hands in her mouth and blows out she can make fun noises. The funniest thing was one night Jamie did raspberries on her face as he was putting her in her car seat and then she immediately did it herself on her hand. We laughed so hard! Here's a video of her standing in front of the TV doing it - it sounds like she's farting!

Last night we went to a fundraising dinner for my MOPS group. It was fun because lots of my friends and their families were there. We ended up sitting with my friends Aliy and Cathy and their husbands and set up a separate table for all our kids. Kinsey really enjoyed that and all the kids did a great job of behaving and eating their food (Kinsey had already finished eating by the time we sat her at the kids table).
